Day 1 - Kirby, Cutlets, and Chaos: My Sleep-Deprived Tokyo Adventure
Day 1 ~ Claw Games, Cutlets, and Coke: A Sleep-Deprived Adventure in Japan - September trip
So, Sunday kicked off with a chaotic sleep schedule because I had to catch a 4:20am bus (and yes, blaze it, folks 🤣). After napping through the afternoon like a lazy cat, I pulled an all-nighter doing laundry and watching some intense K-drama where a guy comes back to his hometown to track down a killer after a 15-year wrongful imprisonment. Casual, right? Then, I squeezed in some Starcraft 2 because why not before facing the ultimate boss battle: packing for my 11-day Japan trip. Stress level? MAX.
Next, it’s bus time! QR code scanned like a pro, and off I went. But not before a quick trip to 7-11 to top up my t-card, just in case technology betrayed me. The bus came right on time (4:20am, 😉😉), and I half-snoozed to some tunes, rain falling outside like the universe knew I needed an atmospheric vibe.
The airport? Packed at 5am. Who knew so many people partied this early? After a marathon through check-in and security, my stomach declared war. Solution? Taco Bell tradition because apparently, I can’t fly without a taco. Rain still pouring, I said a little prayer for a safe flight and boarded without a hitch. Stewardesses? Gorgeous as always, just saying...
Fast forward to Japan: customs took forever, but I finally got my Skyliner ticket (Agoda for the win) and zoomed into Tokyo. Checked into the hotel early (score!), dropped my bags, and raced to Gyukatsu Motomura for some famous beef cutlet action. The wait? Long. The cutlets? Juicy, but not life changing. Finally, I wrapped up my day at Taito Arcade, surrounded by claw machines and arcade glory.
So, picture this, I finally conquered a claw machine on my first try and snagged a Kirby like a total pro. Feeling like a champ, I took a victory lap around Ueno Park perfect spot for some fresh air, scenic vibes, and maybe even a cute zoo date in the morning. After strolling around like I owned the place, hunger struck, so naturally, I hit up the legendary 7-11 for dinner.
I picked up a few mystery snacks and discovered a wild new Coca-Cola drink—Coke Zero with laxatives! (Yep, you read that right). Surprisingly, it was pretty good! If this ever hits Korea, I'd totally be all over it.
Tired from my epic day of claw game victories and park adventures, I called it an early night, snoozing away to dream of more randomness tomorrow.
