Recent trip to Japan Day 4 - From Pork Bowls , Glimpse of Tokyo's Ancient Spirit to Nightclubs

Thursday was quite an adventure in Tokyo, packed with new experiences and a blend of excitement and reflection. The day began with a much-anticipated trip to Shinbashi, where I finally got to try Buta-Daigaku, a pork bowl dish that had been on my list since I saw it on YouTube. Despite a line, the wait wasn't bad, and I was soon seated and served a medium bowl that was generously portioned. While delicious, I found myself wishing for a side of pickles to balance out the richness of the pork. It's definitely a place I’d return to if I’m ever in the area again. Shinbashi is a charming spot, but my next destination was the shopping mecca of Ginza. Known for its upscale stores and bustling streets, Ginza didn’t disappoint. I made my way through the sprawling 12-floor Ginza Uniqlo, the largest Uniqlo in Japan, though I left empty-handed. My shopping journey continued through Ginza Six, Matsuya Ginza, and Ginza Komatsu—each offering a unique glimpse into Tokyo’s retail scene. It wasn...

Recent trip to Japan Day 3 - Wednesday Adventures in Japan: A Day of Typhoons, Stores, Anime and Delicious Food

Day 3 Wednesday started off a bit rough as I overslept and had to pay a 300 yen fee 😭😭for leaving my capsule hotel late. The weather has been unbearably hot lately, but today there was a typhoon warning, so I made a quick stop at Lawson to buy a umbrella—turns out everyone has the same white plastic one! Despite the rain, I ventured out to Shibuya during the day to explore. I went into the Laforet Harajuku department store, which was incredible—I was tempted to buy everything, but didn't want to carry too much in the heat. I wish I’d taken photos inside, but maybe next time! After that, I headed over to the famous Shibuya Crossing and, to my excitement, found a building dedicated to "Slam Dunk," one of my favorite animes from back in the day. The building had 5-7 floors, each with something different, and the figurines, especially Chainsaw Man, were amazing. Next time, I might pick up a Slam Dunk souvenir.  After some time walking around, I got hungry and went to a sus...

Recent trip to Japan - Day 2: A Journey Through Tokyo’s Unique Experiences

Day 2: A Journey Through Tokyo’s Unique Experiences Arrival and Capsule Hotel Experience Upon arriving at the capsule hotel, I quickly adapted to the unique setup. After stowing my shoes in a mini locker, I was handed a pajama set, a towel, mini towel(which will disclose whats it for) and a key for the lockers. The capsule environment was challenging at first, with people making musical snoring sounds & someone scratching their feet constantly for every 30 minutes or so...making it hard to sleep. Despite the initial struggle, I managed to rest after charging all my gadgets for the next day. Morning Routine and Unexpected Encounters The morning came with a surprise—a mandatory checkout time, or risk a fine of 300 yen. I headed to the communal showers👀, where I was reminded of the bathhouse experience from my middle school days. Have to go butt naked before entering the shower. The mini towel came clutch covering my happy sack and right into the showers I go! They provide toothbrush...
